Making a trip public shows your name, photo and travel dates in the “Roamers in town” section of each city on your route, so other travelers can say hi. For that, your public Roamer profile needs to be on.
What does making a trip public do?
Turning a trip public shows your name, photo, and the cities and dates on that trip's route in the “Roamers in town” section of each city guide on your route, so other signed-in members can see you'll be there and say hi. It doesn't send your itinerary to anyone by itself — that's what the separate Share trip button is for — and it never shares payment, contact, or account details. You can switch a trip back to private at any time.
