What this site is
Never Roam Alone is an independent travel site with free city guides for individuals, couples, families and groups, with a spotlight on help for solo travelers. Each guide covers how long to stay, when to go, what things cost, how to get around, the neighborhoods worth knowing, where to stay, eat and go out, the main landmarks, and day trips. Alongside the guides there are tools to help you choose and plan adventures: a destination finder, a city comparison, and Ask a Roamer forum, where travelers answer each other's questions.
Who runs it
Never Roam Alone is run independently by its founder Jeff. I research, edit and publish the guides. It is not owned by a travel company, a hotel group or a booking site. I use AI research tools to help me gather information on such a vast site. I contribute on the site for places to which I have already traveled. Every fact is checked against current sources before it goes live.
How we choose what to recommend
- Every place we name has to be real, open and where we say it is. We confirm it from current sources: the place's own website, official tourism sources, OpenStreetMap, and dated reviews.
- Picks follow fixed rules. Where to stay, eat and go out in each neighborhood is chosen by the same written rules for ratings, reviews and location in every city, and a second, separate check confirms each pick.
- We never fill a slot just to fill it. If we can't verify a place, we leave it out. A city with nine good landmarks shows nine.
- Photos are checked for place and licence, and every photo is credited to the person who took it.
- Prices are our own estimates, researched by us and dated. The price you pay is the one the booking site shows at checkout.
How the site is paid for
We never pick a place because of what a partner pays, and no partner can pay to be listed. Affiliate links are marked where they appear, and every partner is named in our Privacy Policy.
Roamers
Travelers can suggest places, share their own take on a city, and answer questions in the community. A suggestion only appears in a guide after it has passed the same checks as our own picks.
Spotted something wrong?
Places close and prices change. If something in a guide is out of date, tell us on the feedback page or by email and we will check it and fix it.
